Housing at the Hawaii Preparatory Academy
The Hawaii Preparatory Academy (HPA) has set aside two of their three dorms to house attendees of the Pacific Division meeting. Please keep in mind that these are typical dorm rooms, containing two twin beds, dressers and limited storage. Rest rooms are down the hall and segregated by sex. All rooms are supplied with bed linens, towels and bath soap. There is no daily housekeeping service. There is a $25.00 charge for each room key that is not returned at checkout.

Fire Alarms
Rooms are equipped with fire/heat sensors. In case of a fire, an alarm will sound. In addition, unannounced fire drills may be conducted. Any time the fire alarm sounds, everyone must exit the building in a rapid and orderly manner and assemble on the grassy area in fromt of or near the building until an "all clear" signal is given.

Laundry Facilities
Each dorm has laundry facilities that are available to guests at no cost. However, guests must supply their own detergent, softener, etc., which may be purchased from the campus bookstore.

Dorm rooms are equippecd with telephones. Incoming calls are routed to the dorms during normal switchboard hours (Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.). After switchboard hours, a recorded message will instruct the caller to leave a messge. Received messages will be forwarded to the mail room and placed in a designated box for our group. Remember that Hawaii is three hours earlier in time than the West Coast.

  Long distance calls may be made from any telephone on campus using a calling card or a credit card. All calls made within the Island of Hawaii (the Big Island) are local calls. All others are long distance.Security
HPA has security guards that patrol the campus after hours.

Dining Hall
If you are eating at HPA, most meals will be served cafeteria-style. After you complete your meal, please bus your dishes to the dish washing area and return any condiments used to the comdiment area. A tray is required at all times when carrying food in the dining room. Shirts and shoes are also required at all times.

The bookstore, which carries toiletries, supplies, postcards, and gifts, will be open Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Mail Room
Mail is received at the HPA bookstore each weekday morning. Visitors may post letters and purchase stamps at the bookstore.

Tennis Courts
Use of tennis courts is on a first come, first served (no pun intended, I'm sure) basis. Racquet rentals are available for a fee through the tennis director. Hours are 3:30 to 9:00 p.m. Appropriate tennis attire must be worn (tee-shirts are allowed), including tennis shoes (no black-soled shoes).

Weight/Fitness Center
The fixed weights area of the fitness center is generally open to HPA guests from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. daily.




4 Nights Housing and Meals (Sunday, 15 June through Wednesday, 18 June)

Includes the following 10 meals at HPA:
  • Sunday Pu pu Reception/Dinner
  • Monday breakfast, lunch and Hapuna Beach picnic
  • Tuesday breakfast only
  • Wednesday breakfast, lunch and Division Banquet
  • Thursday breakfast and lunch.
     Double (each person--will assign roommate if none indicated on form)
     Child (15 and under, with parent)


5 Nights Housing and Meals (Sunday, 15 June through Thursday, 19 June)

Includes the following 12 meals at HPA:
  • All meals in above 4 night package plus the following
  • Thursday dinner
  • Friday breakfast
     Double (each person--will assign roommate if none indicated on form)
     Child (15 and under, with parent)


Additional Nights Lodging

  1. Nights available: Friday, 13 June, Saturday, 14 June and/or Thursday, 19 June
  2. Available only with purchase of 4 or 5 night package (see above)
  3. Must be same category as housing package
  4. Additional nights do not include additional meals. Additional meals may be available at HPA.
  5. Priced per night per person

Division Banquet (June 18, Wednesday): $35.00

The Division Banquet will be in the James M. Taylor Commons on the Upper Campus of HPA. Students who are eligible for awards of excellence are invited to join us as guests of the Division. A $25 credit is available to Students staying at HPA or purchasing a "meals only" package. Students planning to attend the banquet must be sure to indicate so at the bottom of the front page of the Advance Registration Form

Requests for refunds must be postmarked or e-mailed no later than May 17, 2008. Requests can be made via USPS or e-mail (aaaspd@sou.edu). A handling fee of $10.00 will be applied. Refunds to credit cards will incur an additional 3.25% fee on the amount of the original charge to help cover the costs of the credit card fees assessed to the Pacific Division.
